ABOUT ME

After reading Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions for the first time in early high school, I realized that literature has no limits. Reading the work of a writer who eschews any sense of rules in his books was deeply inspiring. Since then, I have spent years practicing writing of my own. At first, my stories read like poor imitations of my favorite authors, but over time, I have produced a humble collection of writing I can safely say I am proud of.

But beyond the publications, the readings, and awards, it is the act of writing itself, and sharing this with others that excites me more than anything. I find this every day in my work at my university's writing center, where I tutor peer students at any stage of the writing process, regardless of genre. Helping others improve their papers over a session has strengthened my ability to effectively analyze and clearly communicate criticism.

I hope to one day apply this same passion to my future career. Whether that's teaching literature, or writing for a local newspaper, I am seeking out work where I can apply my skills for writing, reading, and clear communication.
